Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I need a product to help with my severely dry scalp. I’ve tried other brands that smell "medicated”. Do you have something that might be more pleasing to my nose?
A: Yes. DHS Tar Gel Shampoo, like our original DHS Tar Shampoo, is not only designed to help calm irritated skin and promote a healthy scalp, but it has an added mild lemon scent.
•••
Q: Are the medicated shampoos meant to be used every day?
A: We recommend using DHS Zinc, DHS SAL, and DHS Tar Shampoos three times each week, or as recommended by your doctor. We suggest using either our DHS Regular or Clear Shampoo during the "off” days. Daily use of the DHS Conditioning Rinse will also help hair and skin maintain a natural moisture balance.
•••
Q: Do you carry any products that would be appropriate for treating Folliculitis?
A: The symptoms of folliculitis, or inflammation at the base of the hair follicles, may be improved with use of our DHS Tar Shampoo. Since only a doctor can diagnose your condition, we recommend talking with your doctor or dermatologist to determine the best course of treatment for your symptoms.
•••
Q: Is this shampoo safe for color treated hair?
A: DHS medicated shampoos are not guaranteed to be color safe. Please try our DHS Color Safe Shampoo and DHS Color Safe Rinse that work very well together. DHS Color Safe Shampoo & Rinse were developed to hold the color while providing excellent hair conditioning with enhanced hair thickening and ease of combing, while reducing drying time. Best used together for optimum benefits.
